Jeffrey Lisandro Wins Seven Card Stud Event At WSOP
The World Series of Poker is usually a showcase for some some of the top professional players in the game. This year, however, it has been the less-known players that have dominated the tournament early.
Outside of Phil Ivey, it has been a slow start for well known players. That changed when Jeffrey Lisandro beat out a table that featured another top pro, John Juanda, in the World Championship Seven Card Stud event.
Lisandro took home $124,975 for the win, and more importantly won a coveted bracelet. Rodney Pardey finished second and won $77,229. Juanda ended the tournament in fifth place, winning $25,633. The tournament had 359 players.
In other tournament news, Brian Lemke won the $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, and he won a hefty $692,658 for his efforts. Fabian Quoss finished in second, and Thomas Keller was third.
Just completed also was the first Women's tournament of the year. Lisa Hamilton won the event, which featured one of the quickest final tables of this year's WSOP so far. Hamilton took out Lori bender to win the tournament and now is being presented with her bracelet.
Four other tournaments are in progress, including the recently started H.O.R.S.E. event. Two events are scheduled to begin on Wednesday.
