Kenny Tran Wins World Championship Heads Up Event At WSOP
Kenny Tran and the rest of the Tran train that invaded the World Series of Poker this year must feel there is power in numbers. There are many of the Tran crew that are here competing in this year's WSOP, but Kenny was the first one to break through and win.
Tran won Event #25, a World Championship Heads Up No-Limit Hold'em tournament. Many big name professionals entered the $10,000 buy in tournament, but Tran outlasted the competition and took home the top prize of $539,056.
Vanessa Selbst was trying to become the first player at this year's World Series to win two bracelets. She fell just short of her goal, however, and finished ion third place, winning $108,288. Alec Torelli finished in second place and took home $336,896.
In another event that has been complete, Barry Greenstein emerged as the winner of Event #26, a Seven Card Razz tournament. He won $157,643 for his efforts. The buy in for this event was $1,500. Chris Klodnicki finished in second place and won $97,389.
Four tournaments are still ongoing. Another No-Limit Hold'em event is coming down the stretch with Vitaly Lunkin holding the chip lead with 912,000. There are seventeen players left in the $1,500 buy in tournament.
Only one tournament is slated to begin today, different from the customary two that usually start daily. Today's event will be a No-Limit Six Handed event with a $2,500 buy in.
