Last Few World Series Of Poker Events Wind Down, Main Event Next
The World Series of Poker this year has been filled with repeat winners and an absence of many high profile players in the winners circle. Now, after all of the card play, the last few tournaments are winding down before the Main Event takes center stage on Friday.
The Main Event first day will be set over four days. It is yet to be seen how bad the current economic conditions in the world will hurt the attendance of players at that Main Event. There are, however, many players already here, and some competing in the last few events before the Main Event.
Event 54 is a No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $1,500 buy-in. They have reached the final table and Jason Wheeler is the chip leader with just over three million chips. Sergey Konkin is the short stack with 700,000 chips.
Only three players are left in Event 55, a 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) tournament. The three players remain after John Juanda was eliminated in fourth place. Abe Mosseri, Masayoshi Tanaka, and Julie Schneider are left battling it out for the bracelet.
The last event to conclude outside of the charity tournament on Thursday before the Main Event will be Event 56, a No-Limit Hold'em/Six-Handed tournament. There are still sixty-six players left in this one and Phil Hellmuth is one of those remaining players from the field of 928.
