Last Tourney's End While Players Prepare For Main Event At WSOP
The last few tournaments before the Main Event at the World Series have come to a close. Marty Smyth became one of the last few bracelet winners before the Main Event when he won the World Championship Pot Limit Omaha tournament.
The buy in for the tournament was $10,000 and it had a field of 381 players. Smyth emerged victorious over Peter Jetten and Michael Mizrachi. He took home $859,549 for the win.
Mizrachi came up just short of making history at the WSOP. His brother won this same event last year, and had Michael won, they would have become the first set of brothers to win the same event in consecutive years.
Matthew Graham was the winner in the Limit Hold'em Shootout with a $1,500 buy in. He had a long bout with Jean-Robert Bellande, but came out on top in the end. He won $278,180 to Bellande's $173,564.
Event #52, a No-Limit Hold'em tournament also concluded leading into the Main Event. David Daneshgar was the winner of this tourney, winning $625,443. Scott Sitron finished in second place and claiming $385,974 in prize money.
Now that all the preliminary tournaments have been completed, everyone's attention will turn to the Main Event. a No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $10,000 buy in. Play begins today, and will run four day ones through Sunday.
