The World Series of Poker started late last week, and by the end of the first weekend, the first bracelet was given out. Nenad Medic won the first event at the 2008 WSOP.

Medic was seated at a final table that was loaded with professional players. The event was a Pot-Limit Hold'em tournament, and with many pros vying for the title, Medic had to play carefully to win.

The runner up was well known player Andrew Bloch. He was followed by the only woman at the table, Kathy Liebert. She had to battle from a short stack position to gain the third place finish.

Mike Sexton and Phil Laak both started their Series strong, finishing fourth and ninth respectively. Medic won $794,112 for the first place finish. Maybe more importantly, he won the coveted bracelet.

The WSOP is now in full gear with other tournaments starting over the weekend. Event two, a No-Limit Hold'em tournament started on Saturday. Currently, David Bach has the chip lead. Henry Tran is hovering near the top as well.

Both events three and four begin on Monday. Three is another Pot-Limit Hold'em event, and four is a Mixed Hold'em tournament.
