New Poker Room Opened on Second Floor at Pompano Park
It has been a few months since Florida put into affect the new laws that have allowed Vegas style slots in its state. Also signed into law recently was a new law that will up the limits at state casino poker tables. On Friday, The Isle Casino at Pompano Park opened a brand new 34 table poker room on its second floor.
This also comes a few days after the Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood opened up a non smoking room for it's patrons who had suggested the idea to management.
The new poker room at Pompano replaces the old poker room which was across in the grandstand.
Doug Shipley, the facilities general manager and corporate vice president of racino operations said,"The Isle is now a complete gaming and dining destination." He was referring not only to the new poker room, but also to new restaurants and bars on the second floor which were opened along with the new poker room on Monday.
He went on to say,"Guests can play the slots, dine at one of our four world class restaurants, play poker in the state's finest poker room, or watch and wager on Florida's only live harness raing from a state of the art facility."
The racing refence was to a 650 stadium style seating area that faces the race track that was also opened earlier this week on the second floor.
Right now, Florida pari-mutuels can only operate their poker rooms on days that there is live racing, but a new bill passed by Legislature this month would allow them to keep their poker rooms open every day. They are just waiting on Governor Crist to sign the bill.
The opening of the nw poker room is just another in the ever growing line of casinos preparing for the ultimate legalization of full scale gambling in the state.
