Online Poker Focused On World Series Of Poker Seat Giveaways
The World series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada, is right around the corner and that means that online poker action is heating up. Most of the online poker sites are giving away seats into the Main Event as part of ongoing tournaments.
One of the most popular ways of earning a World Series of Poker seat is to play online. The odds may not be the best, but someone has to win the seat, so many players believe they can outplay the competition and win their way in.
"In the past few years, online poker participation has grown to heights that have never been seen before," said observer Paul Harris, "the World Series of Poker has given so many opportunities for online sites to promote themselves."
The WSOP is only a few short months away. Thousands of poker players will descend on Las Vegas for the month-long event. It could not have come at a better time for Las Vegas casinos, who have seen their revenue slip every month for over a year now.
"The WSOP cannot get here quick enough for Nevada casinos," said resident Gene Hruley, "the economy being what it is, I don't even know if the WSOP will have the turnout that it has had in previous years, but whatever the turnout is, it will be better than now."
Some of the top online poker players have fared well in the past at the WSOP. Chris Moneymaker may be the most obvious example of an online poker player making it big. He won the Main Event at the WSOP just a few short years ago, and now is considered to be one of the most recognizable faces in the game.
