Phil Ivey Moves Towards The Top At WSOP Main Event
The World Series of Poker Main Event is not a place where top pros have been terribly successful over the years. Phil Ivey and Jeffrey Lisandro are trying to change that perception this year.
Ivey is moving up the leader board after all of the Day 2's have been completed. When the players all come together to start the stretch run towards the final table, Ivey will be among the chip leaders after a strong day.
Nobody has really run away from the pack, with Troy Weber holding the chip lead with 475,000 chips. Jon Hammer is in second with 350,000 chips, and Ivey comes in with 245,000 chips in seventh position.
Kenny Tran, David Benyamine, and Phil Hellmuth are all among the players that are still playing. The next step of the Main Event will be a media day on Thursday. That will be followed by a full day of play on Friday.
Surprisingly, some high profile celebrities are still alive in the Main Event. Jordan Farmar, from the world champion Los Angeles Lakers, is in good position to make a run with 165,000 chips.
The WSOP Main Event will run for about another week at which time play will stop once a final table is reached. The final table participants will then have to wait until November 7th before completing the tournament.
