Poker Machines in Victoria on Pace For Record Revenue Year
Poker machines are the craze in several locations around the world. One of those locations is Victoria, where numbers have been released that put the area on pace to break all of its previous years revenue.
The first six months have been unbelievable in Victoria as far as revenue money from poker machines is concerned. $1.35 billion has been lost by gamblers in that period of time.
Some of the areas are seeing the increase in gambling growing to record proportions. The City of Monash produced $66 million in gambler losses in the six month period. That means, if projections hold up, that they will go over $100 million for the year.
Tabcorp and Tatts have raised an astounding $54.7 million more than last year at the same time. The numbers are from July of last year until the end of the year.
"Calls for more poker machines from gaming companies should be rejected as these figures show they have found new ways to get blood from a stone," said Michael O'Brien, gaming spokesman for State Opposition.
