Jim Davenport Makes Money at World Poker Tour for PokerRoom.com
As the prestigious World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris came to a close on 16 June, PokerRoom. com's Jim Davenport successfully finished in 22nd place out of 232 players winning a total of $ 16,500. Held at the famed Aviation Club in Paris, this was Davenport's first time competing in an overseas tournament, and his best showing since he landed PokerRoom. com's "Poker Pro" for a year endorsement in March 2006. Twenty-six year old Davenport of Newport Beach, CA, was awarded an exclusive $ 250,000 PokerRoom.com endorsement deal, and has since played in a couple of major tournaments, including other WPT events. In addition to his "Poker Pro" deal, Jim is part of Team PokerRoom.com, a group of over a hundred up-and-coming poker players who represent PokerRoom.com in some of the world's foremost poker tournaments.
Poker enthusiasts can play on PokerRoom.com to earn a spot on Team PokerRoom.com and gain entry to major land-based tournaments. The next major competition for Team PokerRoom.com is the World Series of Poker, scheduled for 28 July - 10 August 2006 at the Rio in Las Vegas.
Team members are currently vying for seats in the tournament, and hopefuls can log on to www. pokerroom. com to compete for the remaining 20 spots still open. Each World Series of Poker spot is worth $ 13,500 and includes travel, hotel, tournament entry fee and special activities with the rest of Team PokerRoom. com. "I'm thrilled to have had the opportunity to compete at the world famous Aviation Club in Paris," said Davenport.
