Pokerroom.com to Shut Doors on US Gamblers This Monday
The message US gamblers get when they attempt to play at Pokerroom.com on November 6, the day before the United States midterm elections, will tell whether Pokerroom.com shutting down on that day was a political move or not.
Pokerroom.com has sent emails out to their 20 million players telling them that on that date they will no longer be able to accept money from US players because of the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act). However, few have realized the significance of that date.
Was this move meant to enliven the mainly 18-25 year old demographic that frequents the online poker room in order to get them out to vote against Republicans the following day? That remains to be seen because Pokerroom.com is unavailable for comment, but we will find when we try to play on November 6.
Pokerroom.com has been around since 1999 and it is one of the most well operated poker rooms online. They even have such high tech programming that allows players to set limits on how much they are allowed to wager before being 'shut off'. When the kids go to Pokerroom.com they will find they that will not be aloud to sign up there.
And the UIGEA has destroyed this well run company, perhaps, opening the door to shadier establishments.
