PokerStars Amps Up Their VIP Program For 2010
PokerStars has what many experts believe to be the best VIP program in the online poker industry. That does not mean, however, that the site itself does not see room for improvement. That is why they are stepping up the program in 2010.
Currently, there are different tiers of the VIP program. Each month, players try to gain enough points to move up the tiers, which start with Bronze Star. It then goes to Silver, Gold, and Platinum Star levels. It is difficult to reach the top level each month, so PokerStars is adjusting.
Starting in the new year, PokerStars will be giving away more bonus points with each tournament or hand of poker that is played by their customers. The idea is to help the customers reach the top levels of the VIP program easier.
The old cutoff to go from the Bronze Star, to the Silver Star, was 1200. In 2010, that number of VIP Players Points will only be 750 to reach the new level. In addition to the VIP points, a player can also gain Frequent Players Points quicker in the new year.
The goal for most players will be to at least get into the Silver Star tier. That is where multipliers come into play, allowing players to move up to the higher VIP levels much quicker than moving from the first to the second tier.
PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker are considered to be the two top online poker sites in the world. The competition has increased at a rapid pace in the past year, causing many of the existing sites to rework their VIP programs.
