PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Nets Gambler $3 Million Top Prize
The Atlantis Hotel in the Bahamas was the location that changed Poorya Nazari's life forever. Nazari took home the top prize in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure poker tournament this weekend.
Nazari beat out 1,346 other participants to win the top prize. He qualified for the tournament from the PokerStars website. Nozari entered a $33 buy in satellite tournament online, then won his seat into the tournament in the Bahamas.
The tournament itself became an instant success with players from around the world. It had the biggest prize fund ever for a tournament that was not held in the United States.
Nazari battled back after a poor start to claim the top prize. "It was only (Saturday) that I started thinking about winning. At one point Friday I was down to virtually nothing but I got off to a good start (Saturday) and at that point I thought I might have a shot," he said.
Even had he not won the tournament, Nazari's future appeared safe. he graduated with a biochemistry degree just last month. He is not planning on walking away from poker anytime soon.
Among the upcoming events that Nazari will take place in is the EPT Grand Final in Monet Carlo at the end of April. He won a seat in that tournament after his win in the Caribbean.
