Popular Poker Star Sheikhan Could Be Deported To Iran
When a player sits at a poker table, whether in a tournament or cash game, there is a certain amount of stress and anxiety that comes with every hand of poker.
Sean Sheikhan, one of the most popular players in the world, now faces a stress that would create much stiffer implications than any poker game, deportation.
Sheikhan served nine months in jail and was placed on 5 years probation for a misdemeanor sexual battery charge. The case involved a 17 year old girl who he had relations with when he was in his early 20's.
His lawyer is David Chesnoff and he had this to say when asked about the deportation, "It's not allegations involving a child in the actual meaning of the word, it's a legal definition. There's a lot of work to be done on his behalf that's going to be done. He's a good husband and a good father, and a lot of people have problems when they're young that shouldn't follow them for the rest of their lives."
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency spends much effort traveling the country looking for foreign nationals who were convicted of sexual crimes against children in hopes of having then deported.
October 23rd is when ICE will present its case to a judge, if the judge feels the case should be heard, a time and date will then be set.
