Rubber ducks will race down the river and beds will race down the streets of Columbia this weekend when the 14th annual Riverboat Festival takes over the downtown area. This year's festival sees the return of all the favorite events, including live entertainment, the Poker Run on the River, arts and crafts, an antique car show, the bed race and the rubber duck race.

There will also be a few new features this year, such as the Jump-a-Palooza in the children's area. The festival gets started at 9 a. m. when the antique car show opens and boats leave the dock for the poker run. The car show features seven categories with a theme of "Cruising Down Memory Lane. " Cars will be presented in the antique, pre- and post-war, trucks, restored classics '59 or older, restored classics '60 or later, street rods/customs and people's choice. Awards will be given at 3 p. m. For the poker run, boats leave the dock at 9 a. m. and hit five checkpoints along a 16-mile stretch of the river ending at the Copenhagen Sandbar south of Columbia. At each checkpoint, the boats pick up a card for their hand. There is no limit on hands, but participants will be charged $5 for each hand they pick up.

Cash prizes will be awarded for the first, second and third place hands. Live entertainment also begins at 9 a. m. on the stage in front of the courthouse. Delta Blue will take the stage first, and then return for another set at 11:15 a.m. Pake McEntire, brother of country singer Reba McEntire, headlines the show at 2:30 p. m., and Elvis comes to town for a 1:30 p.m. show on the Captain's Quarters stage. Other performers scheduled to appear include the Brownville Choir at 10:15 a. m., the Southern Jewel Cloggers at 12:30 p. m. and the Stoney Creek Boys at 3:45 p. m. The bed race begins at 1 p. m., with participants pushing a bed and an occupant down the streets of Columbia with prizes for the winner.
