Rotary Club, Poker Pair up for Night of Fun is the best to play online poker!

The West Roxbury-Roslindale Rotary Club went all-in for charity this past Friday, hosting a Texas Hold'em tournament at the Sons of Italy Hall in Roslindale Square. Proceeds will benefit several community programs, including the Jason Robert Challenger League and the Rotary's scholarship program. More than 30 players anted-up $125 each for the cause, including Paul Nislon, who traveled from Bellingham to play in the tournament.

"I love to play Texas Hold'em, and all my friends from Roslindale came out to a youth hockey fund-raiser in Bellingham, where I live, last Friday night, so I decided to come out here and return the favor," said Nilson, prompting a catcall from his friends.

"Now just leave your money and don't win any back," said Roslindale resident and Nilson's friend, Ken Cunningham, who was playing in the tournament with his wife, Jan. The Cunninghams are relative novices when it comes to Texas Hold'em, but the pair recently went on a cruise where they had a chance to play against some of the top poker players in the world, and even received a two-hour lesson from 2004 World Champion Greg Raymer.
