Dennis Phillips, the player who has received possibly the most attention during the layoff, has stumbled early. He is now down to sixth position in the chip count with 9,850,000.
Ivan Demidov made his name a household one over the summer by making it to the final table at the World Series of Poker Europe Main Event. he did not win, but is still alive in Las Vegas. He is second in chips with 27,075,000.
"These guys obviously came back ready to play. The play has been aggressive and if the players keep this pace up, this tournament could be over rather quickly," said Pam Stelers, our reporter covering the tournament live from Las Vegas.
Kelly Kim came into the final table as the low stack and although he has yet to be eliminated, he has not made much ground up on the rest of the players. His 1,750,000 is still the low stack at the table.
