Skilled Poker Players Looking To Take Home WSOP Main Event Crown
The 2008 World Series of Poker tournaments have been dominated by the professional poker players, but that does not mean anything once the Main Event starts. To get through the first few days of the Main Event it takes a bit of luck as well as skill.
The pros have been both lucky and good with many of them advancing into the latter stages of the Main Event. Entering Day 5, some of the biggest names in the games were still alive.
Phil Hellmuth made his entrance to this year's World Series of Poker wearing army fatigue, and flanked by women who escorted him to the tournament. So far, he appears ready for a battle as he has made it into Day 5.
Mike Matusow is a former winner of this event and he looks as if he is ready to win again. He also has made it into Day 5 and has his eyes on the grand prize of over $9 million.
Gus Hansen is one of the most feared players in the world, and he was hoping to use that fear to his advantage. Things did not work out in his favor, however, and he was eliminated from contention.
Of the 189 players left, another big name pro is still lurking. Allen Cunningham, the 2005 WSOP player of the year, is still playing and his 1.1 million chips will give him plenty of ammunition heading towards the finish line.
