The World Series of Poker has come to a close for now, but that does not mean the poker world stops. The World Poker Tour held their Bellagio Cup IV, which ended early Friday.

The winner was a Newfoundlander, Mike Watson. He worked his way through a field of pros to capture the title, and take home the grand prize of nearly $1.7 million.

Watson had to come from way behind to capture the title. He was up against one of the best poker players in the world David Benyamine when the tournament got down to heads up. He was also behind almost four million chips entering the heads up.

Then, in one hand, Watson changed the course of the history of the tournament. "It was sort of a classic coin flip situation where it was sort of a 50/50 proposition. I missed on the flop and on the turn. They were both low cards. I needed an ace or a king on the river or it's all over and he's going to win," said Watson.

Watson was holding A-K, to Benyamine's pocket queens. "Then an ace comes on the river and I win this huge pot and he only had two or three million left to my sixteen or seventeen million. Then shortly after that it was over," he said.

Watson is planning on returning to his home in St. John's and investing some of the money he won. He also would like to buy himself a house.
