Strip Poker Tournament Winner Will Donate Winnings
The strip poker championship, to be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at the Cafe Royal on Regent Street in London, is fighting to enter the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest strip poker tournament to ever be held in the same place at the same time.
Paddy Power, a London bookmaker, is upping the ante in an attempt to get even more players to participate in the event. They have agreed to double the prize fund of 10,000 pounds to 20,000 pounds, provided that the winner give all the winnings to charity.
Applicants for the tournament have come from 15 countries, and the recognition has been so broad that the organizer of the event is attempting to make it even larger than he had planned. A large percentage of those playing are doing so to raise funds for their favorite charities.
Spokesman Paddy Power said, "We don't want to disappoint anyone who wants to play and we've had a lot of interest from people willing to donate their winnings to charity so we thought we'd super-size the event and encourage people to cast off their clothes for charity."
Charities or their patrons interested in participating can contact Paddy Power at pressoffice@paddypower.com.
