Tulsa Local Competes With Poker Elite
A Tulsa man outlasted a few professional poker players Monday to finish 19th in a tournament at the Cherokee Casino Resort. Tu Huynh qualified for a final game with 20 participants in the Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge II, which included 12 days of tournaments.
Some professional players were knocked out before the final table, which had three professionals. The main event began Sunday with more than 100 participants. Players could qualify for it by buying in for $5,000 or winning earlier tournaments. Professional poker player Nam Lee of California placed first and received $166,070 and a custom bracelet valued at more than $35,000. Joe Koster of Arlington, Texas, finished second and won $114,875.
Jeff Bryan of Fort Calhoun, Neb., placed third and received $74,832.
