Vitaly Lunkin Wins No-Limit Tournament At World Series of Poker
Vitaly Lunkin was playing pretty good poker throughout Event #27, a No-Limit Hold'em, $1,500 buy in tournament. He held the chip lead for most of the final table and eventually turned that chip lead into a win.
Lunkin beat out a field of 2,707 players in the event. The final two came down to Lunkin and Brett Kimes. Lumkin prevailed and won his first bracelet of the year and also took home $628,417. Kimes won $387,837 for finishing second.
Johnny Chan made his first serious run at a bracelet so far this year in the Pot-Limit Omaha W/Rebuys $5,000 event. He was joined at one of the most celebrated final tables of this year's WSOP. Phil Hellmuth was at the table. He finished in eighth place.
Chris (Jesus) Ferguson was also there, finishing in tenth place. Daniel Negreanu, another big name in the professional poker world, finished in seventh. Moving up the latter at the final table, John Juanda finished in sixth, and Tran finished in fourth.
David Benyamine made the strongest run of any of the big name pros. He reached all the way to third place in the tournament. The winner of the event was Philip Galfond, winning $817,781. Adam Hourani finished in second and winning $493,748.
Only three tournaments are ongoing right now at the Series in Las Vegas. The final table is set at Event #29, a No-Limit Hold'em tourney with a $3,000 buy in. Matt Vengrin is the chip leader holding 1,007,500 chips.
Events #30 and 31 are both still in progress, and 32 and 33 will be starting today.
