The professional poker players decided that they were going to flex their muscle in Event # eight at the World Series of Poker. Many of the last fifteen players left in the tournament were well known pros.

Johnny Chan and Gus Hansen were both in that field. They were trying to win their first bracelets of this years WSOP. Their bids both came up short though. Chan finished in thirteenth place and Hansen in tenth. They won $27,072, and $45,120, respectively.

Further up the leader board and playing at the final table were Eli Elezra, Sammy Farha, and Jeff Madsen. The three of them battled as far as they could, but they each fell short of winning also. Elezra finished fifth, Farha sixth, and Madsen seventh.

Once all of that star player was eliminated from the tournament, it was time for the final four to challenge for the title. In the end, it was Anthony Rivera who prevailed and won himself a coveted bracelet. He also received a nice consolation prize of $483,688 for his win.

Events six and seven both concluded as well. In Event six, a Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better tournament, Thang Luu was the winner, securing $243,342 for his win.

Event Seven, a No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $2,000 buy in, went to Matt Keikoan. First place for this event was $550,601. Shannon Shorr finished second and won, $349,141.
