World Series Of Poker Extends Deal With ESPN Until 2018
The World Series of Poker has gained great notoriety since they joined forces with ESPN. The top sports entertainment company and the WSOP will now be doing business for at least another seven years.
The two companies have announced that they will be extending their current deal by seven years. That leaves the WSOP tournaments to be broadcast on ESPN through 2018. Over 82 million people watch the taped tournaments on the ESPN network every year.
"The WSOP is proud to call ESPN home for another nine years," said Jeffrey Pollack, President of Harrah's Interactive Entertainment and the WSOP, "This long-term agreement ensures that our content will appear on ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN2, ESPN2 HD, ESPN Classic, ESPN.com, ESPN360.com, ESPN Mobile TV, and ESPN International platforms outside of the US."
ESPN was equally as excited about the new deal. With the amount of viewers that tune in to watch the tournaments, it seemed like an easy choice for the network to reach an agreement with the WSOP.
"We are very excited to continue our relationship with Harrah's to deliver the largest, richest, and most prestigious gaming event in the world to fans across a variety of platforms," said Doug White Senior Director of Programming and Acquisitions for ESPN, "Poker continues to be a solid ratings performer for us and allows us to continue offering diverse programming to our viewers."
