World Series Of Poker Gambling On Past Success
With every passing day the World Series of Poker gets closer to beginning. Although it is less than two weeks away, organizers of the event are concerned about the effects the economy will have on the event.
The World Series of Poker this year will be gambling on past years' experiences to bring players back. The economy has hurt Las Vegas so far this year, and the WSOP is a chance to help sagging revenue numbers.
The economy is causing such troubling times for Americans, that even the WSOP might feel the effects this year. People do not have the extra money to spend on vacations to Vegas this year.
Another thing that might hurt the numbers at the main event this year is online gambling. In past years, online sights were giving away free entries into the big tournament to winners that have won satellite tournaments on their online poker sites.
With many sites pulling out of the U.S. market, there will not be as many free entries, which will cut down on the amount of people who enter the tournament.
The pros will still be there, so will the amateur players who have millions of dollars. What will be missing this year, however, will be the mid income players who saved all year to enter the main event.
