World Series Of Poker Kicks Off With Pot-Limit Hold'em Event

The waiting is just about over. Poker enthusiasts have flown in from all over the world, and the World Series of Poker is once again prepared to become the center of the poker universe.

Professional card players and amateurs alike have been planning for their trips to Las Vegas for the World Series of Poker. The preparations are complete, and all that is left to do is start dealing the cards. That will take place on Friday when the first event begins.

Event 1 will be a Pot-Limit Hold'em tournament. It is scheduled to begin at high noon on Friday, and will be a three day event. WSOP organizers have placed a high entry fee tournament first to gather excitement for the Series.

The buy in for the first event will be $10,000. That is one of the higher end buy ins. The main event also has a $10,000 buy in. The other tournaments vary in their buy ins.

There is one other tournament scheduled to begin on the opening weekend. On Saturday, a $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event will commence. This tournament will be the first of many No-Limit tourneys that are scheduled throughout the WSOP.

The Series will take place at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
