World Series Of Poker Main Event Betting Odds Favor Philips
Dennis Philips has used the time off from the Main Event at the World series of Poker to promote charity. He has set up an auction on eBay, and has vowed to donate the proceeds from the auction to Multiple Sclerosis.
In addition to the charitable work, Philips has also been brushing up on his poker skills. He heads back to the Main Event final table on Sunday as the chip leader and the gambling favorite to win the coveted bracelet.
Philips has odds of 4-1 to win the title. He is joined as the favorite by Ivan Demidov, who is just behind Philips in terms of chips, but has shown the ability to be a savvy poker player in the past several months.
Demidov made a strong showing in the World Series of Poker Europe final table. He was trying to become the first person to win both of the main event titles in the same year, but his efforts came up just short in the Europe event.
Others who are hoping he suffers a similar fate back in Las Vegas this weekend include Scott Montgomery and Peter Eastgate. The two of them come in right below Demidov and Philips with 4.5-1 odds of winning the title. From there, the odds drop off a little bit.
Ylon Schwartz and Darus Suharto are 7.5-1 and 8-1 choices, respectively. David Rheem and Craig Marquis are both 9-1, and the long shot of the final table is Kelly Kim. Kim will have an uphill battle as the short stack at the table. His odds are 33-1.
