World Series Of Poker Main Event Failing With ESPN Coverage

Play in an Online Slots Tournament!

ESPN has built an empire on showing highlights after the live sporting events ended. One event where that is not going to pay off, however, is the World Series of Poker.

As of now, the World Series of Poker is played in taped shows on ESPN months after the live tournaments took place. The Main Event of this years Series began a couple of months ago, but it was not until last week that ESPN began broadcasting the tapes of that tournament.

On Tuesday, the next installment of the Main Event will air on ESPN. They will cover Day 1C and Day 1D from the tournament. Last week they aired Day 1A and 1B. While they have edited their material to ensure that viewers are entertained, they still miss the excitement of showing the tournament as it happens.

With the Internet becoming increasingly available in most peoples homes the need for live broadcasts of big events such as the World Series of Poker has grown. Taped delayed versions are not appealing to many people who already know the results of what will happen.

If the World Series of Poker wants to become a major television draw, they will have to find a way to get their tournaments on live television. Other sports that are taken seriously in this country do not show their games on a taped delay basis, and neither should the WSOP.
