World Series Of Poker Main Event Final Table Gambling Begins
The time for studying and practice is over for the nine players who made it to this years World series of Poker Main Event final table. Play resumed on Saturday in Las Vegas, and the search is on for the next champion.
Much of the hype leading into this years final table surrounded one of the top players in the world. Phil Ivey made it through a difficult field and is seated at the final table.
Chip leader Darvin Moon came in with a commanding lead, but he has already given back some chips in an early showdown with the short stack at the table. That short stack, James Akenhead, tripled up to keep his title hopes alive.
"Already there have been fireworks at the table and the day has only begun," said poker fan Mario Bennett, who is on hand to watch the final table unfold, "I can't wait to see what the next couple of hours holds."
Play will continue at the final table until two players are left. Those two players will then square off on Sunday night, and they will play until there is a winner.
Unlike in the past, the final table is not available on pay-per-view. ESPN has the rights to air the final table, and they will do so on Tuesday night, the normal time for their WSOP coverage. The network has been airing episodes over the past months leading up to the final table.
