World Series Of Poker Main Event Update: Mizrachi In Top Five
The more fans watch the 2010 World Series of Poker, the more it become extremely obvious that the Mizrachi family has a special gift of knowing how to play poker well. That was evident again on day six of the main event on Thursday.
Robert Mizrachi has been gaining all of the press during the 2010 WSOP, but it is brother Michael that may get the last laugh. With only ninety-nine players remaining, Michael Mizrachi is sitting in fourth position in the chip counts with 5,360,000.
The current chip leader is John Racener from Port Richey, Florida. Racener has just under seven million in chips, and Alexander Kostritsyn is the only other player above six million. A group of five players, including Mizrachi, are above five million with their chip stacks.
Among the casualties on day six was two-time champion Johnny Chan. The poker pro represented himself well early in the main event, but Chan's chip stack was diminished in the beginning hours of day six when he lost twice with pocket kings, both times to opponents who were holding pocket aces.
Former bracelet winner Theo Jorgensen is in ninth place, and David Benyamine is right on the cutoff of where play will end today in eighty-second. When all but eighty-one players have been eliminated, play will stop for the day and resume on Friday.
Only two days of play remain before the November Nine will be set. Once the final table is set, there will be a break in the action that will span almost four months. Play will resume in November, when the 2010 main event champion will be crowned.
