It has not been the best of World series of Poker showings so far for some of the top players in the game, but that is all changing in one event this week. Jennifer Harman and John Juanda are stealing the show at the Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better World Championship.

Harman and Juanda have outlasted most players in the beginning field of 170. With only five players remaining in the $10,000 buy-in tournament, Harman has the chip lead with 1,300,000, and Juanda is sitting in second position with 1,065,000 chips.

The final table has also been set in Event #13,a $1,500 buy-in, No-Limit Hold'em tournament. David Baker will begin play at the final table as the chip leader, with just over 2.5 million chips. Matthew Vance from New York is in second, and Jeffrey Gross will be the short stack with 281,000 chips.

Two events that began this week are rapidly progressing into Wednesday. On Monday, a No-Limit Hold'em/Six-Handed tourney began, and out of the 1,663 that entered, only twenty-eight remain. Mikhail Lakhitov is the chip leader, holding 600,000 chips. Four other players are close, all having over 500,000 chips.

Event #17, another No-Limit Hold'em tournament, began Tuesday and had 792 players pay the $5,000 entry fee. Over half of the field has been eliminated in the first day, leaving only 324 players left to battle it out for the first place prize of $818,959.

Wednesday is setting up to be another busy day at the Rio in Las Vegas. Several of the four tournaments in progress could come to a conclusion, and two more events will begin. A Limit Hold'em tournament with a $2,000 buy-in, begins at noon, and later in the day a $10,000 2-7 Draw Lowball World Championship (No-Limit) event commences.
