World Series of Poker Update: Praz Banzi Wins No-Limit Bracelet

Friday marks the start of the second weekend for the 2010 World Series of Poker, and for many players, the weekend started with a bang. Several tournaments concluded on Friday, and several more are slated to start on Saturday.

In Event #5, a No-Limit Hold'em tournament with a $1,500 buy-in, Praz Bansi took home the coveted bracelet. Bansi also won the top prize of $515,501. Vincent Jacques was the runner-up, falling just short of winning the bracelet, but gaining a $320,913 consolation prize.

One of the smallest tournaments so far this year, the No-Limit Hold'em Shootout event was won by Joshua Tieman. The poker player from Chicago, Illinois beat out a field of 358 to take home the first place money of $441,692. Neil Channing finished second, winning $273,153.

Event #7, a 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball (Limit) tournament, was won by Peter Gelencser from Hungary. The Hungarian won $180,730, and a tournament that was expected to draw better numbers only drew 291 players. The buy-in for the event was $2,500, and the top thirty finishers cashed.

Although several tournaments ended on Friday, several others were still in progress. One event that began on Wednesday and two that started Thursday are in their latter stages. One of them, the Seven Card Stud World Championship, has a familiar face, Michael Mizrachi near the top of the leader board.

Mizrachi won the $50,000 Player's Championship after taking out his brother, Robert at the final table. Legendary player Doyle Brunson is currently lingering in eighteenth place in the Seven Card Stud event.
