In 2009, the World Series of Poker had to deal with an economy that was in the midst of falling apart, and that factor held attendance levels down. This year, attendance is up twelve percent already, and some tournaments are even setting records.

One of those tournaments was Event #34, a Seniors No-Limit Hold'em Championship with a $1,000 buy-in. Harold Angle had never won a gold bracelet at the WSOP, but the Sun City, Florida resident found out what that felt like on Monday.

Angle beat out 3,141 other seniors on his way to winning the $487,994 first place prize money. Michael Minetti finished in second, bagging $301,839, and John Woo was third. The total prize fund was $2,827,800, and it was the largest field to ever begin the Seniors event.

A major battle is taking place in the Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship. The final two players, Ayaz Mahmood and Ernst Schmejkal have outlasted the field, and are now playing heads-up. It is a heads-up match that has attracted many fans, and the winner will walk away from the table $625,674 richer.

Event #38, a H.O.R.S.E. tournament, has a familiar name at the top of the chip counts. John Juanda has made his presence felt throughout the 2010 WSOP, and now he is aiming at capturing a gold bracelet. Juanda has 905,000 chips with eight players left.

The competition at the final table is strong for Juanda. Phil Ivey, considered by many to be the best player in the world, is third in chips, with 751,000. Chad Brown, who watched wife Vanessa Rousso go deep into the Heads-Up event, is sitting in sixth with 340,000 chips. Jeffrey Lisandro is the short stack at the table, but he has shown many times before that he is capable of coming from behind and winning.
