WSOP 2008 Schedule Released By Harrah's : World Series of Poker Schedule
In 2007, the World series of Poker saw main event numbers drop from the previous year. Harrah's has released the 2008 schedule, hoping the early release will give people time to plan their trips.
The new schedule is highlighted by an event first, it will start and end the series with $10,000 buy in World Championship tournaments.
A total of eight $10,000 events will be held throughout the series. $1,500 tournaments, which are the most popular events in the series, will also hold eight tournaments at that buy in amount.
55 events in all will be held at the 2008 WSOP. That number is the same as last year's event. for the first time, the second event will be a $1,500 buy in with two starting days. That is being done to accommodate the large draw of the tournament.
"This is our most exciting schedule yet. Both amateur and professional poker players will have new opportunities to compete for a WSOP bracelet and can choose from the widest variety ever offered in one poker tournament and certainly at the WSOP," said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the WSOP.
The tournament will be televised exclusively on ESPN.
