WSOP Europe Has 18 Year Old Woman Win The Main Event
Annette Obrestad had the biggest day of her life over the weekend when she won the main event of the World Series of Poker Europe main event.
Of course, there are not many experiences that would compare to even playing in the event when you are 18 years old.
Phil Hellmuth was here, Daniel Negreanu was here, actually, all the big name poker pros were in attendance for the main event, but it was a child prodigy that took home the bracelet by out playing all of the pros in the 362 player field.
Obrestad is from Norway and never thought she would be in a position to capture the title, "I never expected to win. I'm speechless. I really don't know what to say."
The lack of words and articulation shows just how young this winner is, and gives credit to the poise that she showed in taking down the top players in the World.
The tournament itself could not have been more of a success for organizers, who were overjoyed with the youngsters win. The game has been growing in popularity and the younger players begin playing, the more poker will become prevalent in every society.
In some ways, Obrestad's win will do the kind of promoting that no add campaign could accomplish, having young people see the potential for their dreams to come true.
Europeans dominated the tournament, which will also help grow the WSOP overseas and not just in the United States.
