WSOP Finalists Kick Off Poker After Dark Gambling On NBC Monday
When a player gets as far as the Main Event at the World Series of Poker, there are guaranteed to be many opportunities to be seen once the tournament is over. One of those opportunities is to be featured on Poker After Dark, the popular poker show from NBC.
On Poker After Dark, some of the top players in the game are mixed with some of the games best personalities to play a high stakes game of poker. Each week, there is a different theme to the show.
On Monday, the new season begins with a show that is titled, "Close but no Cigar." It involves players that have made the final table of WSOP Main Event in their playing careers. although the players have not won the big tournament, it does not mean anyone should feel sorry for this group.
Well known poker stars Lee Watkinson, David Williams, Mike Matusow, Andy Black, Allen Cunningham, and Dewey Tomko will all be playing on the season opener. The group has an impressive collective resume, yet none of them have ever won the Main Event of the
WSOP.
The players will be playing for $120,000. each of the players paid an entry fee of $20,000 to enter, and only the winner of the tournament will leave with cash. The players are no strangers to winning these Poker After Dark Events.
Of the six players who will kick off the season Monday, Williams and Cunningham are both previous winners on the show. Matusow is hoping he can finally notch a win, and the other three players have never appeared on the show before.
