WSOP Finds New Bracelet Winner In Gambling Kwaysser From Hungary
The gambling is heating up at the World Series of Poker. As the events is wearing on, more and more of the top players in the world are making their way towards the top of the tournament winnings lists.
The latest player to win a gold bracelet was Valdemar Kwaysser from Budapest, Hungary. The man who goes by the name of "Luigi" on the tables, had cashed six time before at the WSOP, but had never taken home the top prize. that all changed at Event # 38, the $10,000 buy-in, Pot-Limit Hold'em World Championship.
Kwaysser beat out some of the top pros in the game to earn the $617,214 first place prize. Among the former bracelet winners that cashed in the event were Blair Rodman in eighth, Vitaly Lunkin in twenty-third, and Mike Matusow in twenty-sixth. Matt Marafioti was the second place finisher, winning $381,507.
In other WSOP action, Event #39, a No-Limit Hold'em Shootout, is down to six players. Jeffrey King is currently the chip leader with 1,730,000 chips. The short stack on the table is Reagan Leman with 555,000 chips. The tournament will play down until one player has won the first place prize of $382,725.
Event #40, a Seven Card Razz tournament is also nearing its conclusion. Melville Lewis has a commanding chip lead over the other three players at the table with over 1.2 million chips. Maxwell Troy is the short stack with 237,000. Vladimir Shchemelev is in second, and Frank Kassela in third in the chip counts.
If it is well known players that fans are looking for, they can be found at Event #41, a Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better tournament. Phil Hellmuth, perhaps the most well known player in the world, is sitting in fourteenth position with forty-five players remaining. Jeffrey Baker is the leader with 200,000 chips.
Currently six tournaments are in progress at the Rio in Las Vegas. On Thursday, several of these tournaments will be completed, and only one new event, a Mixed Hold'em tournament with a $2,500 buy-in, will begin.
