WSOP Main Event Update: Fourteen Players Left, Play Dragging

Play Poker at Doyles Room Now!

It may end up being a long night at the Rio in Las Vegas for the fourteen remaining players in the World Series of Poker Main Event. That is because at this point in the game, nobody wants to be on the outside looking in.

The top nine players will make the final table in November, and the top fourteen have taken turns over the past several hours trying to knock one another off. The play has slowed to a crawl, and players are playing tight, and for their tournament lives.

One major name still remains at the Main Event. We have been following Phil Ivey's journey now for several days, and he is close to becoming the main draw at the final table. Currently, however, Ivey is just outside of that final table. He sits in tenth position in chip stacks.

The players are right now at their dinner break, and when they return they will play until only nine of them are left. The chip leader at the break is Eric Buchman, with 28,670,000 chips. Steven Begleiter is in second position with 27,260,000 chips.

Darvin Moon has had one of the best days in the field, moving up to third place. He had the chip lead for a while, but now is back to third, holding 23,800,000 chips.

All eyes for the majority of the day have been on Ivey. He has already won a WSOP bracelet this year, and he is threatening to become the Main Event champion. Ivey began day in good shape, but took some tough beats along the way. He now has 7,325,000 chips, still plenty to make a push with.
