WSOP Recap: Eric Buchman Breaks Through To Win Bracelet

USA Players Accepted at Rome Casino!

The WSOP action on Friday had a lot to do with redemption for players who have fared well in the past but had never won a WSOP bracelet. Eric Buchman came into the day having cashed thirteen times at the WSOP, but never won.

That all changed in Event #18 a $2,000 buy-in Limit Hold'em tournament. Buchman, who finished fourth in last year's WSOP Main Event, won the Limit tournament and the first place prize of $203,607. Brent Courson finished second, taking home $125,737.

In other WSOP action, a battle is brewing in Event #19, the 2-7 Draw Lowball World Championship (No-Limit) tournament. David Baker is controlling the action as the chip leader, but he has some serious competition from a couple of the top players in the world.

John Juanda has made a deep run in several tournaments in this year's WSOP, and he once again has a chance at a bracelet in Event 19. Juanda sits in third position, with 400,000 chips. George Danzer has 280,000 chips in fourth position, and Eric Cloutier has 595,000 in second. David Baker is the chip leader with over 1.7 million chips.

In addition to Juanda, Erik Seidel, Andy Bloch, and Daniel Negreanu, all went deep into the 101 player field. Negreanu finished in eighth, Seidel in sixth, and Bloch bowed out in ninth. Chad Brown, another well-known pro, finished the tournament in thirteenth place.

Heading into today, five tournaments are in progress, with several scheduled to come to a conclusion this afternoon. Two new events will begin, one at noon, and then a Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better World Championship with a $10,000 buy-in at 5 PM.
