WSOP Report: Many Pros Eliminated on Tuesday in Las Vegas
The way the second round of this years World Series of Poker main event is structured, there will be two days, 2A and 2B, on Tuesday and Wednesday, then the field will finally be combined on day 3, Thursday.
Day 2B started the day with 1037 players that were combined survivors of days 1A and 1B. The day was set to go until 350 players remained, or if they were close at the end of round four, the tournament director reserved the right to help the players out, and shut it down for the night.
If day 2A only plays four rounds, then on Wednesday, day 2B will only play four rounds, as the time played has to be the same going into Thursday's day 3.
ESPN's feature table for day 2A included "Miami" John Cennuto, Scotty Nguyen, and Sabyl Cohen, who was the highest finishing woman at last years event.
Many professionals and celebrities were eliminated on Tuesday including pros Daniel Harrington, Joe Hachem, Paul Wasicka, Cennuto, and 2007 WSOP player of the year, Tom Schneider.
Among the celebrities that took an early exit were Brad Garrett and talk show host Montell Williams, who had a bit of problem early when he arrived and his chip count on his bag at his seat did not match the chips inside the bag. The tournament director was informed, and after reviewing the security tapes, determined that the chips in the bag were miscounted and Williams received the missing $5,000 in chips. they did him no good, however, as he was eliminated later in the day.
