Over the next couple of days, many tournaments will wrap up and the focus of the World Series of Poker will turn towards the main event. The latest tournament to be completed was Event #48, a Mixed Event, and Norwegian Sigurd Eskeland took home the gold bracelet.

Perhaps even more important than the first place prize money for many poker players is the coveted gold bracelets. Eskeland felt the joy of winning one of those bracelets when he defeated Steve Sung heads-up in the Mixed Event. Eskeland won $260,497 and Sung won $160,952.

The WSOP Tournament of Champions took Wednesday off for players to continue to compete in other events. Mike Matusow leads the tournament with only seventeen players remaining. The top names in the game were invited to enter the tournament, and many are still alive.

Three players remain in Event #47, a No-Limit Hold'em tournament. Owen Crowe is the chip leader with 5,180,000 chips. Shawn Busse from Massapequa is second with 2,695,000 chips, and Pekka Ikonen is the short stack, although with 1,510,000 chips, Ikonen still has enough to make a move.

Taylor Larkin leads another No-Limit tournament that has reached the final table. Larkin has just over 2.5 million chips. Chadwick Grimes is right on Larkin's tail with 1,925,000 chips. The short stack at the table is Erle Mankin, holding on with only 525,000 chips.

Four other events that have started since Monday are also in progress. Today, a No-Limit Hold'em and a Pot-Limit Omaha are set to begin. On Friday, the last No-Limit event before the main event will begin. The main event starts on Monday, and Day 1's will run through next Thursday.
