0-2 Giants, Rams, Eagles, And Saints Looking To Save Season
Every year there are certain teams that exceed expectations early in the year, but when the opposite holds true, and teams considered to be at the top lose early, the red flags go up.
New Orleans is a team that was the feel good story of the NFL last season. They returned to their home, the Superdome, after Hurricane Katrina bounced them around for a season, and they made it all the way to the NFC Championship game.
After losing to Chicago in that game, the general consensus was that the Saints would come back hungrier this season and again challenge to be the best team in the NFC. So far, that prognostication has been incorrect and New Orleans is now 0-2 heading into their week three Monday night match up with Tennessee.
Philadelphia was another playoff team from last year that was expected to be on the top of the NFC this season, but Donovan McNabb has come back slowly from injury, and the Eagles have lost their first two games to Green Bay and Washington. Detroit, who is a surprising 2-0 is next up for the struggling Eagles.
St. Louis also lost their first two games this year, and the surprising thing there is that they have received almost nothing in the first two weeks from all everything running back Steven Jackson.
The Giants were a playoff team a year ago, but after an off season of controversy surrounding the squad, they are also off to an 0-2 record and are in danger of falling far behind, even if the season is still early. New York has a potential showdown with the Redskins, who are 2-0, this weekend. A loss would drop the Giants three games behind Washington.
The season is still early, but for these select few teams with Super Bowl dreams, another weekend like the previous two in week 3 and their expectations could drop signifigantly for the remainder of the year.
