Any Team Betting On Roy Halladay Will Be Happy They Did

Not that there needed to be further prove for scouts that Roy Halladay was worth every prospect in another teams organization, but on Sunday more proof was delivered. Halladay shut down the mighty Boston Red Sox while showing teams his worth.

There has been little doubt in anyone's mind that Halladay would be worth any possible future star, or stars. Anybody team needing further evidence need only ask the thousands of fantasy league owners who employ Halladay in their weekly line-ups.

Sunday, Halladay again showed that he is the biggest of all big game pitchers. He has dominated both the Red Sox and Yankees over the past couple of years, two teams that have more than potent hitters throughout their batting orders.

"This guy (Halladay) just seems to get better every time he takes the mound," said observer Lane Grant, "when he pitches, it is always amazing that the tougher the jam, the more he rises to the occasion."

A team will have to come with almost their entire crop of young talent to land Halladay, the Blue Jays have said as much. Even given the steep price, it would be foolish for teams not to at least try to put together a package to land the best pitcher in baseball.

The Phillies are perceived to be the team that has both the money and the pieces to get the deal done, and Halladay would be an addition to a team that is already the defending World Series champions.

Boston and the Yankees also have the young players the Blue Jays are seeking, but both have been protective of their youth in recent years. The next couple of weeks will determine Halladay's fate. If one of these teams slides, the phone may ring in Toronto, and the Blue Jays will be waiting for the call.
