Arkansas Eliminated From BCS College Football Title Hunt
Arkansas woke up on Friday morning with dreams of beating LSU in the afternoon, then taking care of the Gators in the SEC championship game, and moving on to the national title game. All those dreams ended after losing to LSU on their home field.
The Razorbacks started strongly by scoring first, but the Tigers defense stiffened for the rest of the game and the result is that Arkansas will now be limited to playing the spoiler role against Florida in their conference championship game.
Although the national title is gone from the picture, the Razorbacks still can win their conference title and secure a spot in a BCS bowl game, which in turn means millions of dollars for the University.
In other action on Friday, Texas saw their conference championship hopes take a hit after losing to their rival Texas A&M. The Longhorns can only play for the conference title if Oklahoma State can upset Oklahoma on Saturday.
The other half of that game was already determined to be Nebraska before the Cornhuskers took care of Colorado in the afternoon. They now will await their opponent for next week's title game, either Texas or Oklahoma.
