Auburn-South Carolina Set For Thursday Night College Showdown
When you play in one of the nations top conferences, you receive challenges from some of the average teams in the league. This could be the case on Thursday night as the Tigers travel to South Carolina, to play a Gamecocks team who so far has under achieved in 2006.
Auburn comes into the game ranked as high as #2 in the polls, but they are only 13.5 point favorites over the Gamecocks. Their defense has been stellar so far this season, but the offense has had a slow start, probably contributing to the low point spread.
South Carolina, which came into the season as kind of a mystery, has started the season slowly, and is coming off a surprising tough game against Florida International.
The Gamecocks know that no matter how slow they started, a win over Auburn would change any perceptions about them having a down year.
The total for the game is 37, not unusually low for a conference game where the SEC teams are known for their stingy defenses.
