Australian Open Betting Odds: Federer Moves Into Semi-Finals
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have provided one of the best rivalries in sports over the past decade. many fans were hoping for another epic showdown in this year's Australian Open. Earlier this week, Nadal ended that dream when he retired from his match with Andy Murray.
Federer, on the other hand, continues to show why he is the number one player in the world. In advancing to the semi-finals, Federer defeated Nikolay Davydenko in four sets after dropping the opening set of the match.
Meeting Federer in the semi-finals will be Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who upset the number three seeded Novak Djokovic in five sets. Tsonga is seeded tenth in the Australian Open. While Federer has grown accustomed to playing late into tournaments, Tsonga is looking for his first grand slam title.
In the other semi-final, Murray will be facing Marin Cilic. Murray was beating Nadal when the Spaniard retired in their quarter-finals match, while Cilic defeated seventh seeded Andy Roddick to reach the semi-final round.
Federer is clearly the favorite of the final four players. He has become one of the best players in the history of tennis during his run, and this tournament could add another piece of hardware to what is already an extensive collection for Federer.
