Baseball Postseason Betting Begins With World Series Odds

October is here and for baseball fans that only means one thing, playoff fever. Whether your team is involved or not, the baseball playoffs is held as sacred for die hard fans, except for the gambling ones, who are taking one more shot at profitability.

The odds to win the World Series have been posted and it does take a brain surgeon to figure out which team is favored. Here's a hint, they wear pinstripes and are from New York, and since the Mets fumbled away their season, that only leaves one team.

The Yankees are +200 to win the World Series and are again the sportsbooks favorites to win it all. Of course, the Yankees could have missed the playoffs this year and they still somehow would be the favorites.

The Red Sox, who beat out the Yankees for the American League East divisional title, is the second choice at +250.

Brace yourselves for this next one, the lovable losers the Chicago Cubs, who have not won in generations, are the third choice at +350.

Starting to wonder what information these odds makers have that the regular person is not privileged to.

Anaheim and Cleveland are the next two choices at +650 and +700, respectively.

The Phillies, who were the beneficiary of the Mets not showing up the last month is +750.

Arizona, one of the surprise teams in the playoffs is at +800, and the wild card team from the National League, the Colorado Rockies are the long shot at +2800.

Play begins on Wednesday with the other first round series starting on Thursday.
