BCS College Football Final Standings Have Gators in Title Game
Florida knew going into their SEC championship game that the odds were against them getting into the title game against Ohio State. Not only did the Gators have to win, but they needed a loss from USC and enough points in the polls to jump over Michigan. By the time halftime of their game hit, the Gators knew that the first half of the equation had taken shape as USC was shocked by rival UCLA.
Then the Gators went out and let Arkansas back in the game before putting away the Razorbacks and putting their fate in the hands of the voters and the computers.
When the standings were released today, the last piece of the puzzle was completed as the Gators learned they were headed to Glendale, Arizona as the #2 team in the nation, and with a chance to win one game for the national title.
Michigan dropped to #3 and will play in a traditional Big Ten-Pac Ten matchup in the Rose Bowl where their opponent will be USC.
The Fiesta Bowl will host Big 12 champion Oklahoma and unbeaten Boise State.
The Orange Bowl gets ACC champion Wake Forrest and Big East champ Louisville, and LSU, who appeared headed to the Rose Bolw, will face Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
Teams on the outside looking in on the BCS bowls include an 11-1 Wisconsin team, a 10-2 Auburn team, a 10-2 West Virginia, 10-2 Rutgers and 10-2 Virginia Tech.
The championship game is set to be played on January 8th.
