BCS Rankings Released: One More Week Of Craziness Ahead

The new BCS standings were released on Sunday and it was a case of the more things change, the more they stay the same. Florida and Alabama have locked down the top two spots again this week, and it could set up a scary scenario for the BCS.

The Gators and Crimson Tide will meet on Saturday to determine the SEC Championship. Should Texas be upset in the Big Twelve title game, a scenario could arise where the loser of Saturday's SEC title game could end up still playing for a national championship.

As crazy as it sounds, TCU and Cincinnati may not have the opportunity to stay above the SEC title game loser because of the conferences they play in. In the latest BCS rankings, Texas remained number three, followed by TCU and Cincinnati. The Bearcats could move ahead of TCU with a win over Pittsburgh this week.

Boise State is again number six, with Oregon at seven, Ohio State at eight, Iowa at nine, and Georgia Tech at ten. Pittsburgh dropped all the way to number fifteen. LSU, who survived a scare from Arkansas Saturday night, moved up t number thirteen.

The BCS in most years has worked itself out at the end, but this year it looks like there could be three undefeated teams left out of the championship game. Boise State and TCU are from smaller conferences, but should both receive BCS bowl game bids after the Oklahoma State loss to Oklahoma this past weekend.

Cincinnati has become the most compelling case. The Bearcats have not lost and play in a BCS conference, the Big East. Their strength of schedule, however, may keep them from moving any higher than fourth in the BCS standings.
