BCS Standings Released: Alabama Closes In On Florida
The Alabama Crimson Tide has been chasing the Florida Gators for the top spot in all of the polls for most of the year With just one week left in the regular season, the Crimson Tide have almost caught the Gators in the only standings that matter.
Alabama inched closer to Florida in the latest BCS standings that were released on Sunday. What team finished on top is elementary since the two teams will meet with a championship appearance on the line in the SEC championship. That is assuming, of course, that both teams beat their rivals this week.
Florida plays Florida State and Alabama must face Auburn. Neither the Tigers or Seminoles have had strong seasons, but both have the talent to pull off upsets. Texas, the other team that has been in the top three all year, is still third in the BCS and on track for a championship game appearance.
Teams four through seven did not change this week, either. TCU remained number four, with Cincinnati, Boise State, and Georgia Tech following. Oregon is number eight, Pittsburgh nine, and Ohio State, ten.
LSU had a heartbreaking loss to Mississippi on Saturday afternoon, and it dropped the Tigers out of the top ten in the BCS standings. LSU dropped to number fifteen. North Carolina made their first appearance in the top twenty-five.
